Challenges with English language

Hi there! Today I'm going to talk about the challenges I've had faced with my English studies or maybe just with the language itself. The first thing that comes to my mind is that I can't speak English publicly or maybe with people I don't know very well, that happens mostly because I don't even speak Spanish in public, with time I have become very introverted in public and I start stuttering or my voice trembles, so that plus a different language equals my tongue gets trapped and even though my words are understandable I know I can do better, a possible solution for this I think is practicing a lot before going public but if it's something spontaneous the solution would be to expose myself to public situations so the stuttering or voice trembles are more controlled. A second problem is that if I don't practice regularly I start to forget some words, the best solution for this is to have English classes, for example last year I didn't have English so this year I feel a little behind, also this problem gets exacerbated because my closest surroundings don't like English or don't understand it but I try to watch everything or read texts in English as practice. The last problem I can remember is that I get confused with the times in English, this has been a problem especially when I'm taking a test because even though the answer might be correct I used the incorrect time so everything gets bad graded, the solution for this it's to expend time studying seriously the times and the rules for each one…

Changes to the Chilean study program

Hi there! Today I'm going to talk about the changes I would make to the study program in Chile. The first thing I think we need to change in the Chilean education is to make possible for everyone to have access to quality education, no matter what socioeconomic situation they have, with this I'm trying to say that education should be the same for everyone because education shouldn't be a lucrative business where if you can't pay you don't get prepared for things like the PSU or university. Secondly I would change the fact that everything it’s way too academic, like kids start being taught since they are like 3, a lot of times they don’t get to be kids and play around because they need to know everything before anyone else and be the “smartest”, nowadays the only thing that matters is the logic intelligence and that only leads to frustrated adults or professionals, so is important to change this, maybe that way we can change that sad future. And lastly I would change the rigid system as in using uniforms, having to go with certain colour of hair, etc., because I think those things are a way to keep students under control, like they are used to preventing the self-expression, and in my opinion self-expression is something very important in every person’s life but especially in students because around their age they're discovering who they are, and besides that maybe it would create less problems between students and the superiors, because is very common to see them fighting over the uniform or hair…

Hi there! Today I’m going to give my opinion about some questions…

What is your opinion about the immigration situation in Chile? I don’t really understand about a country’s economy or politics about immigration, so I’ll just say my mundane opinion; I think Chile is doing terrible with the immigrants, I mean they get steal all of their money for living in a matchbox, and I don’t even want to start with racism and xenophobia. I don’t understand why people can see that immigrants came here from their countries to find maybe a better life and how horrible has to be being treated with hate…

What is your opinion about tattoos? My opinion has evolved, when I was a kid I didn’t understand why people would decide to “mark” themselves because my mom taught me that tattoo equal delinquents, but now I truly like them because I know that there’s no relation between being “bad” and having tattoos. And personally I want to have tattoos but I’m sure my mom wouldn’t talk to me just like she did with my sister…

What is your opinion about the Chilean tradition called ‘mechoneo’? I’m pretty sure that my opinion has always been the same which is that the “mechoneo” is just a form of violence that people try to mask as a game and it makes me sick that people support this activity; I literally can’t find a good thing to say about “mechoneo”…

What is your opinion about legalizing abortion in some cases? I think it’s a good advance but there’s no way to deny that it’s the conservative solution so men can still be deciding for us, because there’s no freedom when a group of men tells you when to abort or not. That decision should only be made by persons with uterus…

My cellphone

Hi there! Today I’m going to talk about my favourite device which is my cellphone, I’m choosing it as my favourite one because is the device I use the most I pretty much always have it in my hand, so we spent a lot of time together, we have a bond. The reason why it’s my favourite device it’s because I can do basically everything with it, so I don’t need to use the computer which is great because I’m not a big fan of them, and the most important reason is that I can be communicated with my family and friends back in Puerto Montt, so for me the phone is the thing that prevents the feeling of loneliness in this city. As I said before I basically do everything with my phone, I print via wifi my texts, summaries and my works for college; sometimes I take notes about class with it; I put reminders for important things otherwise I would forget; I entertain myself with social media and lastly and most important I communicate with everyone I love. Even though my favourite device is my cellphone I don't understand when people spent lots and lots of money for a phone, for example with an iPhone, for me it’s simple I’m okay with a phone that it’s not “the cellphone of the year” as long as it’s functional and I don’t change it until it breaks or it gets steal.

Now I want to know if you think the cellphone is important in your life…

Child and adolescent clinical psychology

Hi there! Today I’m going to talk about the postgraduate studies I would like to do. I think since I decided to study psychology I have known in what I want to specialize myself and that hasn’t change yet so for now I’m going to say that I want to do a master’s degree about child and adolescent clinical psychology. I want to do this postgraduate study because I have been a patient since I was like 12 years old and I feel that the attention I received back then wasn’t the correct one, in my opinion a lot of things were not taken care of until I reach the age of 16 when I got my last change of psychologist, so my porpoise is to perfect myself so I can provide a good attention to people in the hoods. If I do graduate from Universidad de Chile I would keep studying here because there’s a discount to old students so that would help my economic situation, from the subjects I saw in the curriculum I feel that I would enjoy the subject "Child and Adolescent Psychopathology". The study format I would like for my master’s degree it’s a part-time course, so I can work and study at the same time. If I do get my master’s degree I would like to study something else but related to child and adolescent traumas, something more judicial.

A psychologist who bakes

Hi there! Today I'm going to talk about my ideal future job which is being a psychologist and a baker, I imagine myself working with kids and teenagers helping them cope their struggle during the week and during weekends running my own business which is a pastry shop and being locked (in a good way) in the kitchen baking everything I can. I feel that I like to work between four walls, I really like the nature but I like it to get distract from the stress of life so for me it's like nature can't be mixed with work, but I would enjoy to travel for work as long as I don't have to quit to one of my occupations. Thinking about the money first of all I hope that with the work as psychologist I can save some money so I can put the pastry shop, but when that's settled my principal economical worry would be to be able to help my mom and dad. To achieve my future job I think that I would do farther studies for clinical psychology but for the baker part I think that I would just ask my mom to teach me every recipe she knows, she's the best baker I know. 

If this turns out real I would be the happiest person, what about you, what job would make you happy?

Rainbow Rowell

Hi there! Today I'm going to talk about my favourite writer, this theme it's difficult because I don't have one but I'll choose one based on the story that touched me more, so I'll be talking about Rainbow Rowell. She was born on February 24th, 1973. Her writing style it's contemporary literature, her books are fictional and are directed to teenagers or young adults mostly. Her first book was published in 2011 since then she has published 8 books in total and her most famous works are "Fangirl" and "Eleanor & Park", the last one it's by far the most beautiful book I have read, the plot it's different it's not the cliché that's always used to call teenagers attention, it's an easy read, in my case it took me only a morning to read it because every part it's well-connected and the emotional transfer it's very strong so it catches you. In my case I don't have a favourite writer because I don't dedicate my time to know all of their works, because I have the fear that I would not like the other books...

Grey's Anatomy, the life behind the doctors

Hi there! today I'm going to talk about my favourite tv series, which by far it's Grey's Anatomy. It's still broadcasting, so there are many platforms where you can watch it, Netflix and Sony are some of the options. The show develops around Meredith Grey and her colleagues's life as interns of a surgical medical program, as the series progresses, we get to see their struggle to balance life with work and of course their way to become amazing surgeons. I adore this series because I practically watched it since it aired  in 2005 so it has always been in my mind, when I was a kid I didn't understand much about the plot, but it always kept me entertain so years came by and I never got tired of it because for me it's simple I love the drama, the medical cases, the romances so I love literally everything especially the fact that the show always tries to work with important issues as homosexuality, depression, rape, etc. in a way that it's not offensive like you can relate to the situation...

The only and best concert I have had

Hi there! Today I'm going to talk about the best concert I have had. It was the concert of my favourite band, One Direction, it was on May 1st, 2014 and it took place in Estadio Nacional. One Direction is a boy band that was created in the show "The X Factor" in 2010, just like any other boy band they became very popular in no time and finally in 2015 they decided to take a break and they haven't come back. The concert was amazing, the atmosphere was great because everyone there loved them so there weren't any comments like "they can't sing" "they're just pretty faces" so I was able to enjoy their music in peace which was the best, the only thing I would change is to be close to the stage but apart from that everything was perfect. A memory I enjoy a lot is that, that day rained and my cousins and I weren't prepared, so we had to buy garbage bags to use them as raincoats.

Norway the best country in the planet

Hi there! Today I would like to tell you about the country I would love to go, as you could read in the title this place is Norway. Even though I'm not a traveller, Norway is my exception, this place just made me fall in love with it, I like literally everything you can see about it on the internet even the weather that's it's very cold. If I have the chance to go I would go to the Geiranger Fiord, because it's just nature and I like to observe the beauty of natural things, also I would go to Oslo, the capital of Norway, because a series I watched was set in this city. I think the reason why I like this country so much it's because it's ranked as the best city to live, actually that's how I got to know it in the first place, so for me going there would be a complete change from Chile that it's no way near to being the best country to live, and I think a change it's always good.
